5 Hocus Pocus Filming Locations in Salem
Fans of the beloved movie “Hocus Pocus” will find a treasure trove of filming locations in Salem, MA. Many iconic scenes were shot around the city, including Max and Dani’s house, located on Ocean Avenue, and the Old Town Hall, where the memorable Halloween party scene took place. You can also visit Pioneer Village, the backdrop for the film’s opening scenes set in the 1600s. The Pioneer Village
Located at 98 West Ave.
This Location was in the movie’s first scene where Thackery Binx lives. He would then be cursed and transformed into Binx, the cat.
The village was built in 1930 and is America’s first living history museum. Tours are offered from June through September.
Phillips Elementary School
Located at 86 Essex Street
This is the location where all the exterior shots of Max and Allison’s school were taken.
The School Closed in 1992, just before filming started. Today it is a condo complex and is closed to the public.
The Ropes Mansion/Allison's House
Located at 318 Essex Street
The house was the location were Max attended the Halloween Party.
The Peabody Essex Museum owns this Mansion. The gardens in the back of the house are free and open to the public.
Old Town Hall
Located at 161 Essex Street
The party was filmed at this location where Bette Midler Sings “Put a Spell on You.”
The City Hall is open to the Public.
Old Burial Hill Cemetery
Located on Orne Street in Marblehead
This is the location where Max has his run-in with the bully classmates that stole his shoes.
